    Chikaming Park Trail 1-Day Hike

    The 263-acre Chikaming Township Park and Preserve and its natural features are diverse and include uplands, wooded floodplains, 2,800-feet of frontage on the Galien River and a 5.3-acre lake. The park features walking and cross-country ski trails, viewing platforms, a fishing pier, picnic area, a community garden, a new mountain bike trail and restrooms. The Park and Preserve is open from sunrise to sunset for your enjoyment.

    The Manistee River Trail follows the east shore of the Manistee River for 8.8 miles through rolling hills. A 23-mile loop trail is formed with the Manistee River Trail along the Manistee River.  The trail traverses past several wetlands and there are bridges crossing two creeks. A waterfall near the northern end of the trail is very popular with many hikers. The Manistee River Trail/North Country National Scenic Trail connector is also the site of the largest wooden suspension bridge in Lower Michigan. There are several dispersed campsites along the trail.

    Lakeshore Trail 5-Day Hike

    Pictured Rocks is the setting for the Lakeshore Trail. The path runs the length of the park, approximately 43 miles, and is often within sight of Lake Superior and its spectacular shoreline. Sharing tread with the North Country Trail, the trail is generally well marked and moderate in difficulty as it travels between views. Those with issues with heights should note that the trail, at times, is located right on a cliff’s edge. Camping is by permit only with options located five miles apart or less.
